2nd Edition of my blogs, Deconstructing Time. We are immersed in time. We take time as a fact of life and think very little about its workings, yet we are at its mercy. In a sense time is all you have: on your gravestone will be your name and the date you were born and the date you died. What could we gain by obtaining a perspective, by standing a bit outside of time? Although the clock will still continue to tick, your relation to time will be changed.
It is the modern human -- i.e. Homo sapiens sapiens -- sense of time that is the key difference between humans and the other animals. And further I believe that time, as we experience it, is created by our uniquely human brains and is critical to our sense of consciousness.

Rick Doble is the author of 3 books on digital photography and a photography expert for the PIXIQ website. His essay-blogs have attracted a total of over 300,000 reads since 1997. In this ebook he has collected 43 of his short, easy to read, essay-blogs written during the last 15 years. These articles explore the artistic potential of digital photography from the earliest days to today. Illustrated with more than 150 photographs, Doble talks about digital photography from a number of perspectives including the influence of modern art, the relation to science, the evolving technology, and the history of the camera. One of these essays written in 1999, about the expressive potential of digital photography, was recently translated into Italian for the prestigious cultorweb.com site and called prophetic by that website.

A fully illustrated Chapter Book for children -- ages 7-12. This chapterbook begins with the Big Bang and ends with the rise of civilization. Children need to know this story. The story of how humans came to live on the Earth, as told by modern theories, is beautiful, profound, compelling, and comprehensive. The picture painted by science today is vast and mythic. I believe we owe it to ourselves as a culture to tell this story in simple terms to our children who will live with these ideas all of their lives. The chronology and events in this children's story are in keeping with recent findings of science. However, to tell the story in a clear and coherent manner, I simplified it greatly for young readers. In areas where science is uncertain such as the start of life and the development of human language, I took fictional liberties that are consistent with scientific speculation.
